A Puerto Rican man wanted for the murders of his girlfriend and her mother 32 years ago in Pennsylvania was arrested in Puerto Rico, police said Thursday.
Erasmo Cruz Cruz allegedly murdered Deborah Patterson, 17, and Nancy Lee Patterson, 41, on August 30, 1980.
The 56-year-old Cruz was arrested Wednesday in the Chorrera section of the Romero neighborhood in Villalba, a city in southern Puerto Rico.
Cruz allegedly threw fire bombs into the Patterson family's house and then shot Deborah, Nancy and another family member as they ran out to escape from the flames, police said.
The suspect worked for years as a mechanic and received assistance from his family, Puerto Rican police special arrests and extradition unit director Lt. Lemuel Gonzalez said.
