A housewife used pesticide to poison her three daughters and then took her own life by ingesting it herself in the Gulf coast state of Veracruz, Mexican authorities said Wednesday.
In a communique, the state Attorney General's Office said that the four bodies were found on Tuesday in the woman's home in the southern municipality of Las Choapas.
According to initial reports, the 30-year-old mother was suffering from severe depression as a result of personal problems apparently involving her relationship with her ex-husband.
Investigators came to the scene, where they found suicide notes written by the woman to her father and her ex-husband.
According to the testimony of relatives, as gathered by the El Universal newspaper, the woman had become depressed because it had been a year since her husband had left her for a younger woman. EFE
