At least seven people, including a 3-month-old baby, were killed in a crash involving two vehicles carrying a total of 13 people on a highway in eastern Guatemala, the fire department said.
The accident occurred Thursday at kilometer 137.5 of the highway that runs from Zacapa to Chiquimula.
The cause of the crash between the automobile and an SUV is under investigation and has not been determined, Rio Hondo fire department spokesman Carlos Zepeda said.
The vehicles collided head-on, killing two women, four men and the baby, Zepeda said.
The six survivors were injured and taken to hospitals for treatment, the fire department spokesman said.
The two vehicles were destroyed and bodies were strewn on the highway, Zepeda said. EFE
