At least 19 people, including four Spanish children, died in a fire Monday at a shopping center in Doha, the Qatari Interior Ministry and the Spanish Foreign Ministry said.
The dead include 13 children, four teachers and two firefighters, Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani said in a press conference.
Four Spanish children are confirmed dead in the fire at the daycare center in the Villagio Mall, the Spanish Foreign Ministry said.
Seven girls and six boys died in the blaze, Hamad Children's Hospital spokesman Ibrahim Yanahi told Efe.
An unidentified foreigner lost three children in the fire, Yanahi said.
Al Jazeera television showed images of a huge plume of black smoke rising over the Villagio Mall. EFE
