At least eight people died, including five youngsters, and 13 were injured in a traffic accident on a highway in Buenos Aires province, officials said.

The accident occurred on the highway between the cities of Chacabuco and Carmen de Areco when a tow truck crashed into an SUV carrying boys from soccer schools between the ages of 10 and 12 and the adults accompanying them.

Buenos Aires province Health Minister Alejandro Collia said on television that among the 13 injured, four are adults and nine are minors.

"Three of the injured are in serious condition, two of them young boys," the minister said, adding that Gov. Danielo Scioli was traveling to the scene of the accident.

The boys were apparently returning to different cities in the interior of Buenos Aires province after having tryouts at the Racing Club.

The accident occurred the day after Argentina was shaken by another crash between a freight train and a bus carrying 40 children and which left eight dead, including six youngsters, and dozens injured in the central province of San Luis.

Most of the latter remain hospitalized in the provincial capital, four of them - an adult and three little girls - suffering grave injuries.
