Mexico City – Mexican aviation authorities suspended the licenses of two pilots, two co-pilots and a flight attendant who were found to be under the influence of alcohol on two flights, the Communications and Transportation Secretariat said.
An Aeromexico flight from San Jose to Mexico City was canceled last Saturday after Costa Rican aviation authorities found that the pilot and co-pilot had been drinking beforehand, the secretariat said Thursday.
Four days later, the pilot, co-pilot and a flight attendant on an Aeromexico flight from the Pacific resort of Puerto Vallarta to Mexico City were determined to have been under the influence of alcohol.
According to the secretariat, which did not reveal the names of the crew members, aviation authorities have launched an investigation that could lead to the removal of their licenses.
It added that those same authorities also have launched a probe into the airline to determine if it bore any responsibility for the violations.
Aeromexico, Mexico's largest airline, currently offers more than 600 flights daily in Mexico, the United States, Latin America, Europe and Asia.
