A new official photograph of Prince George, third in line for the British crown, was released Sunday just before his parents, the duke and duchess of Cambridge, depart for a three-week tour of New Zealand and Australia.

In the photo, the first to be published of the young prince after the one taken at his baptism last October, Prince William and his wife Catherine are shown with the child and the family dog looking out a window of their home at London's Kensington Palace.

Smiling, the duchess is holding her firstborn son, now eight months old, who is dressed in a light blue outfit with his name embroidered upon it and who is not looking directly at the camera but rather is eyeing Lupo, the family's black cocker spaniel, who is being held by his father, the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II.

The image was taken by well-known photographer Jason Bell, whose lens has also captured celebrities such as veteran British pop musician Paul McCartney, U.S. actress Scarlett Johansson and former soccer icon David Beckham.

Bell, who took the photo a few weeks ago, was also the photographer tasked with snapping the official image of Prince George's baptism.

The royal couple is scheduled to arrive in New Zealand on April 7 and then travel on to Australia on April 16, returning to London on the 25th.
