Tech giant Google is now offering prescription lenses for the Google Glass wearable device, a product that can be obtained only by applying for it on the company's Web site and paying a $1,500 upfront fee.

Google Glass, which is still in the test phase, is expected to hit the consumer electronics market this year, Google said.

The new titanium frames offer different styles and cost an additional $225.

Google Glass came out in 2012 and has been spreading via the Glass Explorer Program launched by the California-based company.

The program allows tech aficionados to help Google test the devices before they hit the consumer market. EFE
