German actress Nastassja Kinski said in an interview published Sunday that she is happy that her father, the legendary actor Klaus Kinski, is dead, adding that he was a tyrant although, in contrast to what occurred with her sister Pola, he never sexually abused her.

"He was always a tyrant and terrorized the whole family. I (am) happy that he's no longer alive," the 51-year-old actress told Bild am Sonntag.

"He wasn't a father. Ninety-nine percent of the time I was afraid of him," the actress said.

Pola Kinski recently revealed in a book that her father had regularly abused her, something that Nastassja said made her a "heroine."

Klaus Kinski never abused her, Nastassja said, but she acknowledged that there was physical closeness initiated by her father that went beyond parental tenderness and made her feel uncomfortable.

"He tried it. He touched me a lot, he embraced me so that I felt I couldn't escape. And I was four or five years old," the actress said.

"He kissed me on the cheek and I didn't feel good. I felt like they weren't the affectionate hugs of a father but something more," she added.

Pola Kinski is the actor's daughter by his first wife and Nastassja by his second. EFE
