This week on Being Latino on Facebook we wondered if Latinos are lucky or cursed. As with all life’s questions it depends on whom you ask, and answers are as varied as experiences.

If we were to ask Arizona’s Sherrif Arpaio --in English of course-- we would guess that he’d say cursed, as evidenced by his distaste at being mistaken for a Latino because of his name.

But what’s so wrong with being a Latino man? Nothing, of course, but not being wrong doesn’t always equate to easy.

The article, The Continued mismeasure of manhood, addressed some issues specific to the Latino culture; issues that have the potential to create a bombardment of conflicting messages about what is right or wrong for Latino males as individuals.

Internal conflict isn’t limited to Latino males. As we all grow older in a progressive society we begin to view the world differently and often in ways that differ from the culture we were raised in. We begin to realize that though our culture will always remain a constant part of us, our beliefs and our principles are what truly sustain us.
