Call it a Modern Breakup Announcement.

Following in the steps of fellow A-List stars who have chosen to break the news themselves of a breakup (think Gwyneth Paltrow and the famous “uncoupling” message on her website), “Modern Family” actress Sofia Vergara announced on her WhoSay page that she and her fiancé Nick Loeb have separated.

Vergara, originally from Colombia, said on her page that she and Loeb, who got engaged in 2012, simply were finding it increasingly difficult to find time to be together because of their busy work schedules.

The actress wrote: "Not that anyone should care, but in order to not give the press the chance to invent crazy and hurtful drama, I prefer to tell my fans personally that Nick and I have decided to be apart."

"We have been having too many problems with having to figure out how to spend time together and because of my work and now his, it's been getting worse and worse, not fun anymore. We are still very close but we believe this is the best thing for us right now."

Vergara, 41, has been shooting a movie in New Orleans.

Last fall, Vergara told E! News, "We've only been engaged one year and I have to plan a very big wedding, so it's going to be when I have time to not only to plan the wedding, but then take time off after the wedding because it's going to be big."

Vergara and Loeb last were photographed together at the 2014 Golden Globes, according to E! News.
