The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" was named Movie of the Year at the MTV Movie Awards and kept up the pace with prizes for Best Female Performance going to Jennifer Lawrence and for Best Male Performence to Josh Hutcherson.
The film topped the Movie of the Year category against the other nominees: "12 Years a Slave," "American Hustle," "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" and "The Wolf of Wall Street."
The award-winners were elected by popular vote.
The event, presented by Conan O'Brien and famed as a platform for upcoming film premieres, served as a launching pad on this occasion for the likes of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," "Godzilla" and "X-Men: Days of Future Past."
The gala is also notable for the oddity of its existing categories. For example, Zac Efron won the trophy for Best Shirtless Performance and celebrated the honor by letting his shirt be pulled off by British singer and actress Rita Ora.
Showing her baby bump, Mila Kunis took the Best Villain prize for her role in "Oz the Great and Powerful," while Orlando Bloom and Evangeline Lilly took the Best Fight statuette for their battle with the orcs in "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug".
Vin Diesel and the late Paul Walker were chosen as Best On-Screen Duo for "Fast & Furious 6." EFE
