Maybe all Latinas look alike. Or not.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, which hosts the biggest night in Hollywood, had a case of mistaken identity when they mistook Penelope Cruz with Salma Hayek in a photo on the Oscars' official Instagram page.

The snapshot was taken moments before Cruz presented onstage with actor Robert De Niro at the Academy Awards. But the Academy wrote, “Hayek and De Niro prepping backstage.”

Oops.

According to E! News, users immediately began slamming the Academy for mistaking the Spanish actress with her famous Mexican friend.

One commenter wrote: "There's not that many Latina actresses. But don't confuse them."

It didn’t take long for the Academy to notice the mix-up and the picture was quickly taken down.

Hayek did not attend even attend the 86th annual Academy Awards on Sunday.

It was a surprising mistake by the Academy considering it awarded Cruz, 39, the Best Supporting Actress statute for her work in “Vicky Christina Barcelona” back in 2009, making her the first Spaniard in history to receive an Oscar.
