On Thursday morning, the same day that Thalía was to unveil a star with her name on it on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Macy's, one of the world’s largest department stores, announced that it had signed a multiyear contract for a new clothes and accessories line inspired by the Mexican singer and actress that will bear her name.

The retailer said that the Thalía Sodi brand will debut in more than 300 stores across the United States and on its website in the spring of 2015.

According to a press release, the department store will initially sell dresses, shirts, pants, shoes and jewelry before it hopes to incorporate others products down the line.

"I am very excited and honored to partner with Macy’s, an iconic American brand that believes in our community, to launch a collection that will be fabulous, fun and flirty – truly representative of who I am as a Latina,” Thalía said in the release. “This new fashion venture of apparel and accessories has been a longtime passion of mine, and I can't wait for my fans and women from all over the world to wear my collection.”

“Thalía is one of the biggest stars on a global stage – a favorite artist and personality not only in the Latino community, but among fans everywhere who love her music, her style, her passion and her charisma,” said Terry J. Lundgren, president and executive director of Macy’s. “When it comes to fashion, Thalía is a trend-setter for Latinas who love to step out and stand out in a way that is flirty, fun, vivacious and put together.

Thalía, born and raised in Mexico City, began to sing at the age of 9 in the group Timbiriche. In 1990, she began her solo career and has since sold more than 40 million albums. She recently published a new children’s book “Chupie: The Binky That Returned Home.”

In 2003, Kmart launched the Thalía Sodi Collection, which was discontinued after a few years.
