Argentine rocker Charly Garcia's doctors recommended that he cancel a concert in Bogota because of a spike in his blood pressure, a media representative told Efe.

Garcia was told by doctors that he should rest for 48 hours, Martha Ordoñez, who is handling media relations for the concert by the rocker and Fito Paez, told Efe by telephone.

The 62-year-old rocker was hospitalized minutes before he was to take the stage with Paez at Bogota's El Campin Coliseum on Friday.

Garcia suffered "an acute coronary event," the Fundacion Santa Fe de Bogota hospital said in a statement.

The rocker was unable to perform because he suffered a pre-coronary, concert organizer Jaime Ariza said on Friday.

Garcia was released from the hospital on Saturday. EFE
