Univision, the biggest Spanish-language television network in the United States, announced the naming of Colombian journalist Isaac Lee as chief executive officer of Fusion, the multimedia company's new English-language news and entertainment channel designed to attract a young, diverse audience.
Lee, the current president of the Univision news division, will combine that position with his new duties as CEO of Fusion.
The television and digital channel will start broadcasting in English on Oct. 28 and will be characterized by a singular mix of original journalism and programs that are "visually compelling, creatively produced and laced with humor and irreverence," the channel said in a communique.
Targeting young Hispanics and millennials, Fusion will broadcast the news 24/7 along with entertainment and lifestyle programs.
"I am honored to take on this increased role with the incredibly creative and ambitious team at Fusion," Lee said, expressing his enthusiasm at being a part of the combined company of Univision and Disney/ABC Television Network, with the opportunity "to grow this into one of the most impactful media organizations."
"Isaac is a visionary and a true leader. We are delighted that he'll now bring his energy, passion and programming genius to Fusion full time," Anne Sweeney, co-chair of Disney Media Networks and president of Disney/ABC Television Group, said. EFE
