Los Angeles – Jennifer Lopez will star in an upcoming Jason Blum-produced thriller titled "The Boy Next Door," in which a divorced mother gets in hot water after embarking on an affair with a teenage neighbor, Variety reported.
Filmmaker Rob Cohen, best known for "xXx" and "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor," is in talks to direct the picture, whose script was written by Barbara Curry.
It will be a new foray for Lopez into the thriller genre after she starred alongside Jason Statham in "Parker," which hit theaters earlier this year.
Filming of "The Boy Next Door" will begin in the fall prior to the January start of the next edition of "American Idol," in which Lopez will once again be one of the judges.
Blum, whose production company specializes in horror films such as "Paranormal Activity" and its sequels, will produce "The Boy Next Door" for between $3 million and $4 million, Variety said, citing a "source close to the project."
