The Twitter war between Lady Gaga and Perez Hilton has taken a unexpectedly violent turn.

The latest social media accusation from the singer against the Cuban celebrity blogger came Sunday when she tweeted in all caps: “@perezhilton STAY AWAY FROM ME + MY FAMILY YOU ARE SICK TRYING TO RENT AN APARTMENT IN MY BUILDING TO STALK ME. LEAVE ME ALONE!!!”

According to Gossip Cop, Lady Gaga also later wrote “DO I NEED TO BE SHOT IT IN THE HEAD FOR PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND THAT HIM AND EVERYONE ELSE THAT HARASSES ME HAS GONE TOO FAR? IM A HUMAN BEING.”

While Hilton and the pop star were once close friends who even vacationed together, the pop icon has taken to Twitter in recent days to explain what caused the demise of their friendship.

Gaga, who has been promoting her new single “Applause,” a song inspired by her hip injury, wrote about a nasty message she received from Hilton the day of her accident on stage.

After her revelation, Gaga immediately sent another message asking her fans to “not be affected by someone like this NOTHING merits this kind of hatred. Im ok & I always survive. Ignore him. Just Dance.”

However, Gaga’s “little monsters” felt the need to defend their idol and did so by sending some violent tweets of their own directed toward the blogger.

All Sunday night, Hilton was dishing his side of the story to his followers on Twitter, along with re-tweeted the messages he was receiving.

“I can't sleep,” wrote Hilton on his Twitter page. “I am literally sick to my stomach. Not playing any f**king games here. I am afraid for my fucking safety and that of my son.”

Earlier in the evening, Hilton released a full statement on his website, expressing his devastation.

Hilton said it hurts my heart “that my former very good friend, a person I used to call my ‘wifey’ and traveled the world with, is making very public and very untrue allegations about me on Twitter. While it is still too painful for me to go into detail about why I chose to no longer make her a part of my life, I will say that I am a critic and not a ‘stalker.’”
