The works of Spanish artist Alicia Framis and other artists are turning the galleries of the Museum of Modern Art in the eastern Dutch city of Arnhem into runways this summer with exhibitions that show the role of fashion in the cutting-edge contemporary art.

The show at the MMKA runs until late September and features exhibitions on the work of Framis, Dutch illustrator Piet Paris and promising Dutch designers.

The most outstanding exhibition of the summer is a grand retrospective of the work of Framis, who was born in Barcelona in 1967.

Framis has become famous around the world in the past two decades for her irreverent works and shows that focus on the social milieu.

The Spanish artist's projects link fashion, architecture and design in an attempt to raise public awareness and bridge the gap between the public and the artist, the MMKA said. EFE
