The singer of Mexican regional music Alexxa is 20 years old, has recorded a disc and has been nominated Revelation of the Year in the 2013 Premios Texas awards, but what most drives her is a desire to succeed.

To make all her dreams come true, Alexxa works on developing her musical career, which, she says, "is spurred on by the applause of my fans."

"It's been that way from the beginning and I'm very grateful. My first big public appearance was in 2010 before some 15,000 people at the Miller Outdoor Theater in Houston, opening a Ramon Ayala concert during the celebration of the Bicentennial of Mexican Independence," Alexxa told Efe.

The young artist recalls her stage fright on that occasion, but the audience transformed her "fear into strength, with their affection, their applause and their acceptance."

Since then, Alexxa, who is heard on the radio singing "Amigos por Telefono" and "Un Monton de Estrellas," the latter single providing the name for her album, has traveled to a number of U.S. cities for appearances with such artists as Aniceto Molina, Fito Olivares, Grupo Duelo, Ligado, Tierra Cali and more.

On Aug. 11 at the Houston Splashdown, this young Texan born of Mexican parents will offer her first big solo concert. EFE
