Television channel MTV Latin America announced that that it will stage its first-ever awards show in Mexico City on July 16 to honor the best in music, social networks, films, television and fashion.
At the presentation of the MTV Millennials Awards were Mexican blogger Werevertumorro, who will co-host the show, singer Danna Paola and Mexico City Mayor Miguel Angel Mancera, who announced official sponsorship of the event through the individual urban transport system Ecobici, a bike sharing program.
Actress Karla Souza, star of the movie "Nosotros Los Nobles," will join Werevertumorro in hosting the event.
Artists performing live at the show will include Ilya Kuryaki and the Valderramas, Hello Seahorse! and 3BallMTY, while the international alternative band Twenty One Pilots will complement the musical entertainment.
"For us it's very important to participate actively in an event like the MTV Millennial Awards, since the audience - mostly young people - is directly related to Mexico City's Ecocbici program," Mancera said.
The MTV Millennial Awards, to be held at the Corona Forum in the capital, includes such categories as Digital Icon of the Year, Twittersniper of the Year, Fashion-insta, Viral Video of the Year, Bonbon of the Year, Gummy Hit Song of the Year and Farfetched Film.
Among the nominees are Bruno Mars, Belinda, Dulce Maria, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, PSY and Werevertumorro. EFE
