Mexico's Cineteca Nacional plans to screen a broad retrospective of the work of Spanish filmmaker Ventura Pons starting on July 11, with 18 of the Catalan director's feature-length movies being shown.

The director said the Cineteca Nacional's retrospective would be the most complete yet of the 30 done of his work, showcasing his most notable films from 1977's "Ocaña, retrato intermitente" to last year's "Una merienda en Ginebra."

On July 10, a day before the retrospective begins, the Cineteca will screen "Año de Gracia" as part of the European Film Festival.

The film was screened at the 2012 Guadalajara Film Festival.

Monterrey's Cineteca Nuevo Leon plans to screen a sample of the Spanish director's work on Thursday as part of its 2ª Muestra Internacional de Cine Queer, where Ventura Pons will be the guest of honor.

The festival will dedicate opening night to the director with a screening of "Caricias."

The University of Denver held a conference on the work of Ventura Pons last October that was attended by specialists from the English-speaking academic world. EFE
