Singer Tito Puente Jr. will give a concert Saturday in the Dominican capital in honor of his late father, one of the leading figures of Latin jazz and salsa music of the past century.
The tribute to percussionist and composer Tito Puente Sr. will take place at the Hard Rock Cafe in Santo Domingo with a promise to include the greatest hits of the "King of the Timbales," the organizers said in a communique.
The concert will resound with such numbers as "Oye Como Va," "Tito's Idea," "Envuelvete Conmigo," "Mambo Sentimental," "Dejame Soñar" and "Hay que Trabajar."
Puente Jr. will also use the concert to pay tribute to the late Cuban singer Celia Cruz and to Carlos Santana, "two artists whose music was influenced by the legacy of Tito Puente," the organizers said. EFE
