Their tours over the past year have wowed fans with 72 shows each. U.S. singer Madonna and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have been the two most profitable music acts on the concert circuit in 2012, Billboard said Monday.

Its list of 25 artists is topped by the queen of pop, who raked in $228 million with her MDNA world tour, closely pursued by "The Boss" with receipts of $199 million.

The ranking was prepared with box office data from the tours of the world's artists between November 2011 and November 2012.

Runners-up to Madonna and Springsteen were Pink Floyd alumnus Roger Waters with $186 million, Cirque du Soleil's Michael Jackson The Inmortal World Tour with $147 million, Coldplay and its Mylo Xyloto tour with $147 million, and Lady Gaga and her Born This Way Ball, $124 million.

Others among the top ten most lucrative tours of the year were those of hip-hop stars Jay-Z & Kanye West and violinist Andre Rieu.

Further down the list were Elton John, teen sensation Justin Bieber and pop-country singer Taylor Swift. EFE
