Singer and actress Thalia has joined the campaign launched by the Mexican Cultural Institute and the Mexican Consulate in New York to raise funds for immigrants from Mexico affected by Hurricane Sandy in the Big Apple.
The Mexican entertainer recorded a 30-second radio spot in which she calls for assistance for her countrymen.
"As you know, Hurricane Sandy has affected thousands of families, leaving them without electricity, without household goods and, in the worst cases, without a home," Thalia says in the public service announcement.
The singer visited New York last week to distribute clothing, sleeping bags, blankets and school supplies to Mexican families affected by the monster storm on Staten Island.
"The Mexican Cultural Institute in New York has created a special fund to raise money to help Mexican families that lost their homes," Thalia says in the PSA.
"This is a great opportunity to come together and support this cause," the singer said. EFE
