Colombian actress Sofia Vergara has gotten engaged to businessman boyfriend Nick Loeb, just two months after rumors circulated that they were breaking up, the online edition of People magazine reported.
Efe contacted the publicist of the "Modern Family" star but was unable to obtain a definitive answer on the matter, however the report has already been published by other Web sites, including E! Online and US Magazine.
Loeb accompanied the actress to Mexico, where Vergara celebrated her 40th birthday with a weekend full of festivities at a hotel on the Riviera Maya. According to a source at People, Loeb asked Vergara to marry him while the couple was visiting the ruins of Chichen Itza.
On Monday, a friend of the actress posted on Twitter a photo of those celebrations in which the engagement ring Vergara received can be seen on her finger. The snapshot has been subsequently disseminated by several publications.
Loeb is a well-known businessman with political aspirations, although last November he said he was not going to advance his political career by running for the U.S. Senate.
This will be the second marriage for Vergara, who at 18 married Jose Luis Gonzalez, the father of her son Manolo.
The couple separated in 1993. EFE
