Puerto Rican singer and actor Ricky Martin tops the list of the 20 most influential people in the United States in fighting for the rights of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and transsexual, or LGBTT, community, the Huffington Post reported.
Puerto Rican gay rights activist Pedro Julio Serrano said in a statement released Wednesday that both he and Martin had made the list of the most influential people fighting for the rights of the LGBTT community.
Serrano thanked the Huffington Post for including him on the list, adding that the honor would inspire him to continue the fight for the rights of the LGBTT community until equality was achieved.
"I am honored to be on the side of important and courageous figures in our effort for equality and justice for the Latin LGBTT community in the United States," Serrano said.
The Huffington Post also recognized Anthony Romero, director of the American Civil Liberties Union, or ACLU, writer Charles Rice-Gonzalez and Victoria Cruz for their work on behalf of the rights of the LGBTT community.
