Bono, who is the first transsexual male on the show, was sad to go home but happy that he was able to “show America a different kind of man.”
“If there was someone like me when I was growing up my whole world would have been different,” Bono said.
“I dedicate everything I did to all the people out there like me,” he added. “Especially the kids and teens struggling.”
Bono, 42, is the son of legendary singer Cher, who was in the audience on DWTS a few weeks ago cheering her son on.
“You can have a wonderful, great life and be successful and happy,” Bono said. “Dancing With the Stars has been the hardest thing I’ve done on every level that I have been through.”
Before performing hias last dance on the show, Bono was praised by the judges for his charisma and for gaining confidence.
“I took so much away from this,” said Bono. “This was an amazing journey that really pushed me and showed me that I can do so much more than I ever thought I could.”
With Bono eliminated, it comes as no surprise that JR Martinez took on the lead with the highest score on the show thus far.
The army vet graces the latest cover of People magazine as the “Iraq-War-hero-turned-golden-boy of the ballroom.”

"I'm being blessed in so many ways, and it's because of the energy I'm putting out in the world," Martinez told the magazine. "My life would not be what it is today: full of joy, happiness and positivity.”
DWTS is a weekly dance competition and reality show in which celebrities are paired with professional dancers and compete for the opportunity to win the coveted disco ball-shaped trophy.
