Colombian singer/songwriter Shakira denied rumors of an alleged breakup between her and Spanish football player Gerard Piqué.

Rodrigo Beltrán, Shakira’s press manager in Colombia, told EFE that the rumor about the alleged breakup is “completely false.”

“They are still together and are very well.”

Beltrán says he wanted to clear up the rumor, which had spread in various news outlets throughout Europe, Latin America and social networks.

Shakira tried to quash the rumors by sending Piqué a kiss via her Twitter account.

“Good luck to the Spanish national side and to my number 3, muah @3gerardpique. Shak.”
Rumors that Piqué had been unfaithful to Shakira with another woman were swirling in the press and online.

Shakira, 34, and Piqué, 24, who plays for the Barcelona soccer team, made their relationship public last year.

Shakira has a foundation dedicated to help needy children obtain food, clothing and an education.

Two weeks ago, the Recording Academy for Arts and Sciences named Shakira as the Person of the Year. The Latin Grammy winner will be honored Nov. 9 at the 12th annual tribute gala in Las Vegas for her artistic and philanthropic contributions.

As part of the ceremony, friends and other notable artists will salute her by performing versions of her songs during the gala.

Shakira is up for three awards, including for album of the year, a day later at the Latin Grammys.

The show will be broadcast live on the Univisión network.

She has won Latin Grammys for hits such as “Estoy aqui,” “La tortura,” “Hips Don’t Lie,” and the 2010 World Cup theme song “Waka Waka.”
