Actress Sofía Vergara made her debut as a fashion designer here Thursday, presenting the clothing line she created for the Kmart retail chain.

"They are clothes with colors and shapes that are on the (fashion show) runways, but aimed at women of all sizes," the Colombian star of ABC's hit comedy "Modern Family" told Efe in New York.

"Never in my life did I imagine I could be part of a series like this and work with those actors," Vergara said of her work on the Emmy-winning show.

The 39-year-old beauty said her new clothing line is intended for "women who want to look pretty, sexy and comfortable, but don't have a big budget."

A veteran of 20 years in show business, Vergara's U.S. breakthrough came with her casting in "Modern Family," which picked up the award for Best Comedy Series at Sunday's Emmy awards gala in Hollywood.

Vergara was nominated for a best supporting actress Emmy, but lost out to "Modern Family" co-star Julie Bowen.

The Colombian actress will be seen on the big screen next year in the Farrelly brothers' "The Three Stooges," also featuring Larry David and Jane Lynch.
