Cuban singer-songwriter Pablo Milanes launches his concert tour of the United States and Puerto Rico on Aug. 26 in Washington, promoter Fuego Entertainment said Monday.

On Aug. 27 he will take the stage at the American Airlines Arena in Miami and will appear in New York on Sept. 10 and in Boston on Sept. 11, after which he will cross the country to perform in Oakland, California, on Sept. 15.

His next concert will be in Puerto Rico on Sept. 17 at the Teatro Bellas Artes in San Juan.

Together with Silvio Rodriguez, Pablo Milanes has been one of the most creative artists of the Cuban Nueva Trova, a pop music movement that originated in the late 1960s.

Milanes has made 29 discs and has won two Latin Grammys.

"Pablo Milanes is undoubtedly a music icon and has millions of fans around the world. We're enthusiastic and proud to have the chance to produce his first United States tour in almost a decade," Hugo Cancio, president and CEO of Fuego Entertainment and chairman of Cuba Business Development Group, Inc., said.
