Grammy-winning merengue queen Milly Quezada will offer a tribute to late Cuban diva Celia Cruz during a concert at New York's South Street Seaport.

Produced by Ralph Paniagua, Thursday's Tropical Night at the Seaport is a free event that marks the start of National Puerto Rican Day Parade Weekend.

Quezada will pay homage to the late queen of salsa with her own version of "A papa," which Cruz recorded decades ago with Willie Colon's orchestra.

The Dominican singer will be accompanied by Puerto Rican folkloric band Plena Libre.

"It will be a brief intervention, but very nice, with Plena Libre with one of Celia's celebrated songs," Quezada told Efe.

"People are anxious for summer to start and they can enjoy this show," added the singer, who now makes her home in Puerto Rico.

"I am a merengue singer by passion and profession, but when it's time to dancer, I'm a super fan of salsa and I love a good dancer," Quezada said.
