As more Latinas strive for success in life in the U.S. the “Maria Paradox” becomes more prevalent, pitting their dreams against their upbringing.

With easier access to travel, and the internet, the world that is becoming smaller each day. It stands to reason that as citizens of the world, everyone would want to have the ability to communicate with ease. Not so. Many in the U.S. wish to be a monolingual society.

Much of dance, specifically Latin dance is about sensuality; the tango is a perfect example. But while the Tango is accepted as a beautiful expression of sensuality, other dances aren’t seen in the same light. The dance, El Perreo, is said to be demeaning to women, some disagree and make the case that it’s actually empowering.

Religion may be losing its hold on Latinos. Not only is the number of Latino atheists growing, but those who believe in God are losing their faith in organized religion.
